Playtest History

Mobian Mayhem did not appear overnight in 2026. The universe was created on 25 August 2023. Public attention spiked when battlegrounds creators posted showcases in February 2026, then again when a public playtest opened in March. This page is the timeline so you can tell a February moveset from a May one.

March 2026 window

Roblox event pages and creator comments circled 10 March 2026 as the public playtest date. Some talent quoted 21 March. Both dates existed in the wild, which is why comment sections turned into calendar arguments. If you “could not join,” you were often not on the event, not in the right timezone, or looking at a closed instance. Determined and other community voices posted the place link (14569384529) repeatedly for a reason.

Pre-playtest videos already showed Sonic and Shadow, wall-combo talk, and unfinished Shadow tools. Post-playtest videos added the stuff on the updates hub: finishers, anti-team, rails, boost clash.

What players felt in the first public builds

  • The map was the star. People compared it to other Sonic battlegrounds and usually liked this one more.
  • Cutscene finishers split the audience. Some called it movie. Some called it “all style.”
  • Two kits only — still true. See players.
  • Controls matched other battlegrounds games closely enough that Q-dash muscle memory transferred. Official card: 4 M1s + front dash = wall combo, F block, Q dash, click M1, Shift lock, B emote wheel. Full table on controls.
  • Teamers were an immediate complaint. Anti-team was promised in a Q&A (short cinematic, not a two-minute cutscene) and later shipped.

Population spiked around those weekends (peak CCU later recorded above two thousand) and then cooled as the title moved toward rework countdown. That is normal for playtests, not a secret shutdown you need a script to bypass.

After the first weekend

Mini-updates through spring 2026 are why combo pages on this wiki do not match the oldest showcases:

  • Sonic Flare finisher and Light Speed Barrage hold variant
  • Jump-awakening mix-up
  • Boost clash after a long run
  • Rail grinding
  • Shadow time-control conversion into a multi-target stop
  • Anti-team on Shadow, then Sonic

Creator videos from May still called things “final update.” They were not the 1.0. They were the last big playtest toys before the countdown branding.

How to use this timeline

If a combo drop you copied from a February clip fails, it is probably a patched finisher or a renamed hold — check Sonic combos or the Shadow guide. If a friend says the game is deleted, check the links hub place ID before you believe them. If they say Knuckles was playable in March, they are misremembering the roadmap; he was talked about, not queued. Upcoming characters keeps that straight.

No public codes were part of these windows. Join Discord for the next ping instead of refreshing a codes page that is honestly empty.

When the rework ships, this history page stays as the “why the old clip looks wrong” archive. New notes go to the updates hub. Your job in the meantime is getting started and a wall, not a calendar fight in YouTube comments.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

When was the public playtest?

March 2026, with 10 March as the main event date and some creators quoting 21 March.

Why could I not join in March?

Event access, timezone, or a closed instance. It was not always a full public unlock for every account.

Is the playtest the same as the rework countdown?

Same place ID, different branding. Countdown is the current label; March was the first big public window.

Were there playtest-only codes?

None verified. The codes hub stays empty until Discord posts a real string.
