Mobian Mayhem Tier List

Two kits, one public playtest. Rankings below are for Rework Countdown lobbies, not a frozen 1.0 meta.

Tier List Hub

Mobian Mayhem only lets you queue two complete kits right now: Sonic (Speed Perfected) and Shadow (Ultimate Being). That makes a tier list shorter than most battlegrounds wikis and also easier to argue about. This hub is the ranking overview. The character rankings page is the detailed table with matchup notes.

We rank for public 16-player servers during the rework countdown, not for 1v1 underground rules. Teamers exist. Anti-team tools matter. Boost clash and rails from the spring 2026 patches changed how long a chase lasts, which slightly favors Sonic’s movement over Shadow’s burst.

Snapshot

RankKitRoleWhy it sits here
SSonicSpeed / confirmMore finishers, spin ball, easier wall-combo routes
AShadowControl / anti-groupTime stop after a finisher, anti-team cinematic, higher execution
TBDKnucklesUpcomingStated as early-access on the full drop, not playable now

S does not mean Shadow is bad. It means a new player will win more games on Sonic this week. If you already understand timed Spear Combo and Chaos Control routing, Shadow’s ceiling is close. Read both Sonic and Shadow before you main the “lower” kit out of spite.

How we score a kit

Five lenses, in order:

  1. Confirm reliability — can you turn four M1s into a knockdown without a perfect ping?
  2. Finisher coverage — Freestyle Flurry and Sonic Flare both gained finishers during playtest patches; Shadow’s first tool converting into a multi-target time stop is a different kind of coverage.
  3. Anti-group — 16-player lobbies are not fair 1v1s. Shadow’s anti-team animation is a real rank factor. Sonic’s answer is speed and a later anti-team tool of his own.
  4. Awakening — Speed Perfected’s Grand Slam / Cyclone tools versus Ultimate Being’s Chaotic Burst hold. Cutscenes win stocks; they also leave you blind.
  5. Map tech — rails, walls, and boost clash. Sonic’s spin ball and run cycle abuse these harder. See wall combos and controls.

We do not rank emotes, titles, or imaginary Super forms. We do not rank leaked Archie-only designs; developers said they want canon characters only on the upcoming list.

What will break this list

The rework. The Roblox title is literally a countdown. If Knuckles joins as a close-range grappler, Sonic’s mobility rank might still hold while Shadow’s time-stop becomes the dedicated anti-group pick. If Metal Sonic arrives with a copy gimmick, every “S tier forever” take dies in a week.

Patch history already moved pieces: Sonic Flare finisher, Light Speed Barrage hold-space variant, boost clash after a five-second run, rail grinding, jump-awakening voice-line variant, Shadow time stop hitting up to five players. Details live on the updates hub and playtest timeline.

How to use the list in a real lobby

Do not instalock Shadow because a video thumbnail says “broken.” If you cannot land four M1s, both kits feel weak. Learn getting started, then one confirm from Sonic combos or the Shadow guide. Swap after ten games, not after one loss to a teammate duo.

When a third kit ships, this hub will gain a row and the character rankings page will gain a full matchup section. Until then, the argument is Sonic’s consistency versus Shadow’s stop-the-party tools. Pick the one that matches how you already dash.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Is Sonic really S tier?

For public playtest lobbies, yes — more finishers and simpler confirms. Shadow is A with a higher skill floor.

Why is Knuckles not ranked?

He is not playable. The roadmap places him as early-access on the full drop.

Do teamers change the list?

They raise Shadow’s value because of anti-team tools. We still rank Sonic S for solo queue consistency.

Will the rework reset tiers?

Very likely. Treat this as a Rework Countdown snapshot, not a forever bible.
